What to expect...
Aedín Gormley’s RTÉ lyric fm show Movies & Musicals returns to the stage in this spectacle of evening entertainment with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, conductor Stephen Bell and vocalists Louise Dearman and Tom Solomon, following sold-out shows in 2025 (Bord Gáis Energy Theatre). A beloved staple of the lyric fm schedule since the station’s inception in 1999, Movies and Musicals transforms into a special live concert that promises to showcase the programme’s signature blend of music - from Hollywood classics to contemporary film scores and popular Broadway hits. Join them for choral classics, including a 40th anniversary salute to The Mission, scored so memorably by Ennio Morricone, and a chance to hear Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan by John Williams. Dario Marianelli’s stunning Oscar®-winning score from Atonement will also feature, as will Bernard Herrmann’s final score for Taxi Driver. We’ll remember Robert Redford with music from Out of Africa and The Way We Were, as well as favourites from Carousel, The King and I, Aladdin, Frozen and more! Presented by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and RTÉ lyric fm.
