Exhibition: Under the Big Oak
Free exhibition at The Ark for ages 4+ featuring paintings and illustrations by Jole Bortoli and children, telling the story of animals adapting to a changing climate.
What to expect...
A free exhibition at The Ark for ages 4+ built around a story that begins when a deer, fox, robin, squirrel, badger and owl gather under the Big Oak to respond to changing and unpredictable weather. Artist and author Jole Bortoli created the exhibition with children aged 8 to 12, telling the animals’ story through illustration. Families visit a trail of paintings and illustrations, explore Jole’s work alongside some of the children’s illustrations, and follow the story as it unfolds through the exhibition. The climate theme connects with human and natural environments, environmental awareness and care, and with drawing, looking and responding in visual arts. It is presented as an exhibition visit rather than a workshop or guided session.
