What to expect...
A bilingual (English/Tamil) workshop for children aged 3–6 and their families exploring the links between Indian rangoli and Celtic shapes. Rangoli artist Shyamala Sathiaseelan introduces rangoli — a traditional Indian folk art where colourful patterns are created to welcome guests using materials such as rice flour, coloured sand, or flower petals — and then families get hands-on with the materials themselves.
Through simple demonstrations, you experiment with the big shapes and bold colours found in both traditions. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, giving families time to work at their own pace and share a quiet moment of making together.
