Rathgar Children's Book Festival
Rathgar's volunteer-run children's book festival: author and illustrator workshops, folklore drawing, storytime, face painting and an ice cream van.
Good to know
What to expect
Children's authors and illustrators take over Christ Church and its parish hall in Rathgar village. Kids craft and hear stories with Lauren O'Hara, draw and write about pookas, selkies and shapeshifters with Síne Quinn, and invent characters with Steve McCarthy (illustrator of Song of the Sea). The youngest get a storytime. Between sessions there's face painting, balloon art and an ice cream van, and Dubray Books sells the authors' books for signing. It's a volunteer-run community festival, now in its sixth year.
