What to expect...
A one-hour guided walk through the National Botanic Gardens exploring Irish plants and the folklore connected to them. You move around the gardens with a guide, stopping at different trees and plants while hearing the stories linked to them. The tour looks at shamrocks, shillelaghs, hawthorn traditions, the Nobles of the Wood, the Salmon of Knowledge, cross-quarter days and other folklore connected with Irish nature. The guide points out the plants being discussed and explains how they appear in traditional stories and beliefs. The format is a relaxed walking tour where the group stops at a few locations to listen and ask questions. Meet outside the Visitor Centre beside the café before the tour begins. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for garden paths. Children under 12 can attend free when accompanied by an adult.
