Airfield Estate
38-acre urban working farm and gardens in Dundrum with animals, trails, play areas, heritage house and on-site dining.
About
Airfield Estate in Dundrum is Dublin’s only urban working farm and gardens, spread across 38 acres with animals, productive food gardens and a restored heritage house. Families can follow easy paths between the dairy, hen coops and paddocks to watch daily farm routines like egg talks and (on weekends) Jersey herd milking. Outdoors, kids up to about 12 will find natural play spaces and trails, while adults can wander ornamental and food gardens that supply the on-site Overends Kitchen. The experience blends hands-on discovery with gentle learning about where food comes from, sustainable farming and biodiversity. Indoors, the Overend family home and vintage car garage add a heritage layer to the visit. Facilities include two food options (Overends Kitchen and the Stables Café on selected days), baby-changing and step-free access across main routes, making it manageable with buggies. Typical visits last 3–4 hours and the estate runs seasonal trails, camps and a Friday/Saturday farmers’ market. Note that it’s a working farm: animals move around and petting/feeding isn’t permitted for safety.
