About

Farmleigh House & Estate sits at the far end of Phoenix Park with an Edwardian house, gallery spaces and around 78 acres of lawns, gardens and fields with horses, donkeys and Kerry cattle. Families usually start in the courtyard and then wander through the walled and sunken gardens, lakeside paths and tree trails, spotting the tall clock tower and animals along the way. Older children and teens often join a guided house tour through the reception rooms, ballroom and library, while younger kids stay outdoors running on the grass and looking for ducks at the lake. The Boathouse café by the water and regular food and craft markets make it an easy half-day outing.

  • Official Irish State guest house with guided tours through historic reception rooms and the Benjamin Iveagh Library (viewed as part of the tour).
  • Large parkland setting inside Phoenix Park with walled and sunken gardens, lakeside walks and tree trails.
  • Working farm areas with Kerry cattle, horses and donkeys visible from paths and fields.
  • Farmleigh Gallery with changing art exhibitions and cultural events through the year.
  • Boathouse café beside the ornamental lake for coffee, snacks and light lunches.
  • Regular food and craft markets in the courtyard and yard, including seasonal events such as Christmas markets.
  • Social guide and accessibility information aimed at helping first-time visitors, families and people with developmental or learning disabilities prepare for a visit.
