Herbert Park
Large Ballsbridge park with two playgrounds, pond, courts, tearooms and a Sunday farmers’ market.
About
Herbert Park is a spacious city park in the heart of Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, popular with families for its two playgrounds, duck pond, wide paths and open lawns. Split by the road of the same name, the park’s northern side has a modern playground, tennis courts and bowling green, while the southern side borders the River Dodder with soccer pitches, formal planting and the large pond that’s a favourite for strolling and wildlife-spotting. Facilities include a Dublin City Council tearoom (Lolly & Cooks) with indoor and outdoor seating, public toilets, and bookable all-weather and tennis courts. On Sundays a lively farmers’ market sets up in the park, drawing families for hot food and grocery shopping beside the pond. Paths are buggy-friendly and level, and there’s ample space for scooters and bikes (for younger children) away from traffic. The park also features an outdoor gym, boules and croquet areas, and the Hive community space used for classes and meet-ups. Seasonal opening hours apply (gates open at 10:00 daily with closing times varying by month).
