A flat, traffic-free square between Tallaght's library, Rua Red and The Civic, and the home of South Dublin's free family festival days.

About
Parthalán Place is the open square at the centre of Tallaght, sitting between the county library, Rua Red gallery and The Civic theatre. Until recently it was a concrete cut-through with no name; South Dublin County Council rebuilt and landscaped it as somewhere to stop rather than pass. It is named after Parthalán, the mythical figure Tallaght takes its name from. Most days it is simply a flat, traffic-free space to cross with a buggy between the three buildings. On festival days the council fills it: skate ramps and DJs for RePlay, workshop tents for Cruinniú na nÓg, projections and costumes for Tallaween.
