About

Ringsend Park sits between Ringsend and Irishtown in Dublin 4 and is a popular green space for families looking for fresh air and active play. The park combines open lawns and tree-lined paths with a strong line-up of sports facilities: soccer and GAA pitches, an all-weather area, tennis courts, a basketball court and a 400 m athletics track. There’s also a children’s playground (including a teen zone), making it easy to plan a visit that suits toddlers up to teens. Paths are broad and level, so pushchairs and wheelchairs are well accommodated. For a relaxed visit, bring a ball or scooter and loop the paths before spending time in the playground. On weekday afternoons and weekends, pitches are often in use by local clubs, which adds atmosphere but can make some areas busier. Seating is limited, and on-site toilets and cafés are not listed by the council for this park, so plan accordingly. Gates open at 10:00 AM and close at different times through the year (earlier in winter, later in summer), and some gates may begin closing 30 minutes before the stated closing time. Located a short walk from Ringsend village and Irishtown Stadium, the park is easy to combine with a stroll to nearby Sandymount Strand or the Dodder Greenway. It’s a straightforward, free outdoor option with space to run, cycle on small bikes and practise ball skills, plus court and pitch facilities for older children.
