About

Free indoor exhibition on Seamus Heaney at the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre on Westmoreland Street. Families move through displays of Heaney’s writing desk, manuscripts, letters, photographs, personal objects and recordings. It is quiet, compact and best for older children or teens who can read independently and are interested in poetry, Irish writing or school literature. Younger children can visit, but the content is more reflective than hands-on. Daily guided tours give useful context for families who want the visit to feel less like reading panels.

  • Seamus Heaney’s own writing desk
  • Original manuscripts, letters, diary entries and unpublished works
  • Photographs, personal artefacts and multimedia recordings
  • Free daily guided tours at 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM
  • Drawn from the Seamus Heaney archive donated to the National Library of Ireland
  • Located in the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre on College Green
