TU Dublin's Grangegorman campus is a working university, but its open spaces, walkways and green areas are free for anyone to walk through. For families, the draw is the Grangegorman Playground near the Fingal Place entrance, with modern play equipment for 0 to 12 year olds on a soft surface. Right beside it are the university's pitches, synthetic fields and a multi-use court with basketball hoops, used by students, local clubs and anyone who books them. The whole campus is pedestrianised, so kids can run between the playground and the lawns without traffic. Some buildings are staff- and student-only, but the grounds aren't. It also hosts big free days such as Dublin City Council's SportsFest.
