Dublin Winter Lights at Merrion Square Park

After dark, Merrion Square Park becomes one of the main stops on the Dublin Winter Lights trail. Families follow the paths through the park while trees, statues and lawns are lit up with shifting colours, patterns and projected scenes. There are large light features to spot and photograph along the route, with games and playful interactive pieces to trigger by moving, stepping or jumping. The walk is self-guided, so you move at your own pace and can loop around sections that your kids enjoy most. It is entirely outdoors and can feel busy at popular times, especially early evening on weekends, but paths are generally wide enough for buggies. There are no rides or stage shows inside the park itself – the focus is on walking through the light displays, taking photos and enjoying the atmosphere together.
