On the last Saturday of every month, Collins Barracks opens its first hour as a designated Quiet Hour for visitors who benefit from reduced sensory input. Gallery lighting is softened and audio-visual effects are turned down where possible, staff are trained to support neurodivergent visitors, and the Synge & Byrne café joins in with reduced noise, lighting and music. Sensory supports like headphones, sunglasses or a sunflower lanyard are welcome, and a visual guide and sensory map can be downloaded before your visit. The outdoor grounds are available for sensory breaks. Free, no booking required.
